MSSU baseball falls 12-2 to Lindenwood, final regular season game Sunday

St. Charles, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team fell 12-2 in eight innings today in game two of the series at Lindenwood inside the Lou Brock Sports Complex.

Southern (31-17, 22-10 MIAA) locks up the No. 2 seed in next week's MIAA Baseball Tournament at Pittsburg State and will play at 12:30 pm on Thursday, May 9 in the first round against the No. 7 seed, yet to be determined.

Matt Miller had a home run and two RBIs, while scoring once himself. Mike Million, Alex Phillips, Troy Gagan and Ryan Hunter had a hit each, while Gagan added a run.








Will Bausinger started and went five and two-thirds, but suffered the loss to move to 5-4 on the season. He struck out four in the game. River Wright, Bradly Hershey, Brennon Covington and Cam Bednar threw in relief.

Lindenwood (27-22, 18-14 MIAA) got three hits each from Kyle Stevens and Bryce Beckmann. Blake Beckmann started and went seven innings to pick up the win.

Lindenwood scored first with a pair of runs in the first inning. Miller tied the score at two in the fifth with a two-run bomb to score Gagan.

Lindenwood, however, added four runs in the six, one in the seventh and five in the eighth to put the game away.

The two teams will finish up the regular-season tomorrow afternoon with the series finale at 1 pm.
