The Missouri Southern women's 4x400m relay team set a school record today and the Lions had a good final day at the 2014 MSSU Lion Invite inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
The mile relay team of Jasmin Hughes, Kindra Emberton, Amber White and Sydney Potts broke a nearly ten year old record tonight that was set at the NCAA Championships in 2004. The previous mark of 3:57.35 was bested tonight when the quartet hit 3:57.02 to win the event.
White picked up a provisional in the 400m dash, winning the event in a time of 57.25. That mark ranks 11th nationally. Emberton finished second in the 800m run with a provisional time of 2:16.48, while Potts was fifth and Dana Roberson placed sixth.
Kylie Cornman won the shot put with a provisional mark of 47-03.00, while Whitney Hardy and Shelby Sutherland placed third and tenth in the high jump. Brittni Reagan and White placed second and third in the triple jump as both earned provisional marks. Reagan hit a distance of 37-11.50, while white hit 37-06.75.Shelby Newell and Mahogany Jones placed fifth and sixth in the event.
Ashley McFarland was 11th in the pole vault, while Sierra Gray was 7th in the 3k. Jackie Wallace placed fourth in the finals of the 60m hurdles, while Emily Harris and Kayla Bartelsmeyer were second and sixth in the mile run.
The Lions will be back in action on February 7 when the team sends athletes to both the University of Missouri Collegiate Challenge and the Central Missouri Mule Relays.
