The Missouri Southern men's track and field team has swept the MIAA weekly awards asJeff Fraley and Darion Boure were named the MIAA Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league office announced today.
Fraley, a native of Waynesville, Mo., broke his own 60m indoor school record and hit an automatic qualifying time in the event as the Lions competed at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational this past weekend in Norman, Oklahoma, held at the University of Oklahoma.
He won the 60m in a time of 6.71, which beat his previous mark of 6.76. He defeated two former Division I All-Americans, brothers and Olympians in the race in former TCU star Justyn Warren and former Iowa State star Ian Warren. His time is third-best this year in Division II and he also won the 200m with a provisional time of 21.90. He currently holds the top time in Division II in that event at 21.63.
Boure, a native of St. Louis, Mo., won the triple jump at the Oklahoma Baptist Invite. He turned in a big leap of 49-07.25, placing him fourth nationally and breaking the school record in the event, a record that stood for nearly ten years. He also placed seventh in the long jump at the meet.
The Lions will be back in action this weekend sending athletes to both the University of Nebraska and Central Missouri.
