Missouri Southern sophomore forward Cam Martin has been named to the Bevo Francis Award Watch list. The award is handed out by Small College Basketball and is the Division II Player of the Year Award.
This season, Martin leads the MIAA in double-double's, field goal percentage, and free throw attempts, while ranking second in scoring, free throws made and total points. Martin ranks third in Division II in field goal percentage and 25th in scoring.
Earlier this year, Martin tied the MSSU single-game scoring mark as he had 49 points against Minnesota State, helping the Lions to the overtime win.
Martin is one of five MIAA players on the watch list, joining Grant Lozoya of Pittsburg State, as well as Ryan Hawkins, Trevor Hudgins and Joey Witthus of Northwest Missouri.
The list starts with 100 players and will be trimmed to 50 players on February 15. It will again be trimmed to 25 players on March 15. The finalists will be announced on April 6 and the award will be announced on April 8. A ceremony will take place on May 11 at the SCB National Awards Show at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Kansas City.
