St. Charles, Mo. - A cold-shooting second-half doomed the 14th-ranked Missouri Southern men's basketball team as the Lions fell 79-57 at Lindenwood University inside Hyland Arena tonight.

Southern (11-2, 2-1 MIAA) had four score in double-figures, led by 21 points from Elyjah Clark. Clark went 4-of-8 from beyond the arc, pushing his career three-point total to 237, 18 from tying Austin Wright for No. 1 on the all-time list. Cam Martin scored 16 and had six rebounds, while Reggie Tharp and Kinzer Lambert scored ten each.

LWU (9-6, 2-1 MIAA) got 24 points and seven rebounds from Chandler Diekvoss, while Brad Newman added 21 points.

Both teams traded buckets early on. Clark had two three's in the first four minutes and a layup from Tharp with 9:48 left tied the game at 17. A three from Lambert with 6:25 left in the half tied the game again at 21, but five quick points from Lindenwood put LWU up 26-21 with 4:43 left in the half.

Southern trailed by three (30-27) with three minutes to go in the half, but MSSU closed the half on a 7-2 run to lead 34-32 at the break.

The game stayed close throughout the first part of the second half before Lindenwood opened up an eight-point lead (53-45) with ten minutes to go after a layup from Diekvoss. The Lindenwood run reached 23-5 with under four minutes to go as LWU made the score 65-48.

Southern got as close as 19 on multiple occasions down the stretch, but couldn't cut the deficit any closer.

Southern shot 40 percent from the field in the game, including 35 percent in the second half. Southern had 18 turnovers and Lindenwood capitalized, scoring 28 points off of the miscues.

Southern will be back in action on Saturday when the Lions travel to Lincoln University. Tip off from Jason Gym is slated for 3 pm.
