MSSU men to play host to Northeastern State

The 13th-ranked Missouri Southern men's basketball team will be back inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center tomorrow night as the Lions play host to Northeastern State. Tip off from Robert Corn Court is slated for 7:30 pm.

The Series

Southern has won eight out of the last 12 meetings between the two schools and hold an overall record of 22-18 against the RiverHawks.








The Lions' 77-69 overtime win at home in 2006 stopped a three-game losing streak to the RiverHawks. Southern had won just three times in Tahlequah, but the Lions picked up a win at Jack Dobbins Fieldhouse in 2012 and in 2014. 

The Lions are 17-5 at home, 3-13 on the road and 2-0 in a neutral site against the RiverHawks.

Cam Martin leads the MIAA in free throw attempts and made, while ranking second in defensive rebounds per game, double-doubles, field goal percentage, scoring, rebounds, total field goals, total points and total rebounds. Reggie Tharp ranks second in assist to turnover ratio.

The Lions, as a team, rank seventh in rebound margin, eighth in scoring margin, 16th in defensive rebounds per game, 19th in scoring defense, 23rd in field goal percentage, 28th in assists, scoring, three pointers and total rebounds per game, 29th in assist to turnover ratio, and 34th in field goal percentage defense.

NCAA Individual Stat Leaders

Cam Martin ranks 22nd in dobule-doubles, while ranking 27th in scoring, 33rd in defensive rebounds, 30th in free throw attempts, 34th in free throw percentage, 35th in field goal percentage, 40th in rebounds and total points, while ranking 41st in total rebounds.


Player Of The Week


For the fourth time this season, Cam Martin was named the MIAA Player of the Week after his 37 point, 13 rebound performance at PSU.

National Ranking

The Lions are ranked No. 13 in the NABC poll this week and 11th in the D2 SID's Poll. In the history of the NABC Poll, the Lions have been ranked 73 times, including 23-consecutive weeks at one time. The team has been No. 1 once (in the 2011 season).
