The Missouri Southern men's track and field team picked up a provisional and an event win in the final day of the 2017 MSSU Open on Mercy Track inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center Saturday.
Tyler Rush won the 3k in a time of 8:45.51 as four Lions placed in the top ten of the event. Jared Haltom was fourth, while Cody Berry and Mike Shanahan placed seventh and eighth. Josh Webb was 14th, followed closely by Ryan Drendel at 15th. James Tupper placed 45th.
Morgan Hold hit a provisional and placed second in the pole vault with a height of 16-02.75. Dean Howard was eighth, while Zach Wuest and Cortland Potter placed ninth and 13th, respectively.
Cody Vogt was fourth in the high jump with a height of 6-04.75, while Chance Johnson finished 15th in a height of 5-10.75.
Brendan Watkins placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 45-02.50, while Kyle Parr was 10th in a distance of 42-03.25.
Nickson Kiptoo and Rush placed seventh and eighth in the mile with times of 4:29.53 and 4:29.60, respectively.
Thomas Hawkins was tenth in the 600 yard with a time of 1:15.94, while Brandon Callicutt placed 17th. Colton Gurera and Luis Suaste placed 17th and 18th in the 800m, while Victor Encarnacion was 21st.
The Lions will be back in action next week as Southern travels to Pittsburg State to compete in the Pitt State Invite.
