MSSU volleyball's Whetstone led nation in blocks

The NCAA has released its final Division II women's volleyball stats and Missouri Southern juniorCallie Whetstone finished the season leading the country in blocks per set.

Whetstone finished the season with 1.50 blocks per set and 150 block assists, breaking the MSSU single season record that had stood at 115. Her 171 total blocks this year ranks third best in MSSU history and she finished the season ranked second in Division II.

Her 298 career total blocks rank 8th in MSSU history, while her 256 block assists rank third-best. She led the MIAA in total blocks, block assists and blocks per set.

The Lions, as a whole, also set the school record for team block assists in a single-season this year with 451, breaking the previous record of 357 set in 2004. The team ranked sixth in Division II in blocks per set, while ranking 12th in total blocks and leading the MIAA in both categories.
