The Missouri Southern athletic department recently partnered with local US Marines to help the Marines' in their annual Toys for Tots campaign.
Toys were collected at the December 16th and December 20th basketball games. In total they collected 94 toys between the two dates.
"We were honored to partner with the Marines for their Toys for Tots campaign this year," said Randon Coffey, Director of Marketing and Corporate Sales at MSSU. "Hundreds of kids in the Joplin area may not get the opportunity to receive Christmas gifts this year and we were thankful for the opportunity to help."
Paula Mitchell, the local Toys for Tots coordinator, shared the organizations happiness that Missouri Southern helped in the joy of some local families.
"We want to thank Missouri Southern State University for their help with our annual 'Toys For Tots' campaign," Mitchell said. "You guys were amazing! Missouri Southern was great! We were so happy to be able help 37 local families and to make their Christmas bright with the support & generosity of the MSSU fans & staff! We hope to continue our relationship with Missouri Southern & do even better next year!"
