The Missouri Southern golf team is sitting in seventh place following the first two rounds of the Texoma Championship at the Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club.
The Lions shot a team total of 605 (307-298) for the day and are seven strokes behind host Southeastern Oklahoma for fifth place. The second round 298 is the second lowest team round of the fall season for Southern.
Freshman Chas Goins led Southern on day one as he carded a two round total of 144 (74-70), he is currently tied for second place. Senior Ryan Buerk made the biggest move of anyone in the field in the second round as he improved 26 places to tie for ninth place with a total of 146 (77-69). Buerk's 69 tied the leader from Southwestern Oklahoma, Manuel Arzuaga, for the lowest round of the day.
Sophomore Taylor Lansford carded a 157 and junior Ethan Hutcheson is three strokes behind him with a 160 day one total. Freshman Spencer Smythe shot a first round 82 before withdrawing in the second due to illness. Senior Skyler Arbuckle, comepeting as an individual, carded a 86 and 81 to round out the Lions scores.
Arbuckle will tee off the final round at 8:22 am and the Southern team will start their final round at 9:15 am.
