The Missouri Southern Lions (3-3-1, 1-2-0 MIAA) defeated visiting Nebraska-Kearney (1-4-1, 1-2-0 MIAA) 2-0 Thursday night at Hal Bodon Field.
Southern got on the board in the first half in the 37th minute when freshman Aubrey Lindsey scored her second goal of the season off a shot from the right side that hit the far post and went into the upper 90. Junior Karley Thomas assisted Lindsey for her second assist on the season. The Lions would take that 1-0 lead into the half.
Southern would add a second goal to secure the win in the 78th minute as junior Kayla Gajewski scored her first of the season off assists from freshmen Taylor Beck and Bryar Wiley.
Senior goalkeeper Beth Hammons played all 90 minutes in the net for the Lions as she recorded 11 saves on the night while securing her second shutout of the season.
Southern will be back in action at Hal Bodon Field on Saturday as they host the Fort Hays State Tigers (3-3-1, 1-1-1 MIAA) at noon.
