The drumline at Missouri Southern State University has been invited to perform during Tuesday’s playoff game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
The game versus the Oakland A’s marks the Royals’ first postseason game in nearly 30 years.
“We’ll perform in the tailgate lots and then they’ll have us down on the field to perform during the pre-game programs,” said Brian Fronzaglia, professor of percussion and interim head of the music department. “We’ll also have in-game and post-game performances.”
During the Royals’ 2011 season, the group served as the team’s drumline throughout the regular season and during the All-Star Game. The invitation to perform during Tuesday’s game came because of Southern’s connection with the team, he said.
“It’s a cool opportunity because the Royals haven’t been to the postseason in 30 years and we get to be a part of it,” said Fronzaglia.
