Missouri Southern's Eric Schott was named the MIAA Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week the league office announced today.
Schott took home the individual title and the 14th ranked Lions cross country team placed third overall in the 2014 First to the Finish Southern Stampede today at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. Schott traversed the 8k course and came out on top, 17 seconds in front of the nearest competitor, finishing with a time of 24:32.13. He topped every runner in an event that included athletes from two nationally ranked Division I programs (Tulsa - Oklahoma). The 5-8 senior is a native of Cape Girardeau, Mo. where he attended Cape Central High School.
The Lions will be back in action Saturday October 4 as they travel to Fayetteville, Ark. to take part in the Chile Pepper Invitational hosted by the Razorbacks.
