The 15th ranked Missouri Southern women's cross country team had four runners in the top 26 and the Lions finished fourth overall at the 2014 First to the Finish Southern Stampede.
The Lions were led by Emily Harris as the sophomore traversed the 5k course in a time of 17:43.45 and she was the top non-Division I athlete in the race, placing 16th. Senior Kaitlyn Belisle finished just two spots behind at 18th, while Dora Eastin and Kindra Emberton placed 23rd and 26th.
Dana Roberson and Sierra Gray placed 37th and 39th, respectively, while Addie Mengwasser and Lizzy Kirbyplaced 44th and 48th. Kelly Jo Roberts placed 64th, while Kayla Bartelsmeyer and Cora Butcher-Spellmanplaced 71st and 97th, respectively.
The Lions scored 110 points as a team and were the top Division II team in the field. The University of Arkansas won the team title, while the University of Tulsa and University of Oklahoma placed second and third.
Southern was fourth, followed by Midwestern State, Pittsburg State, Dallas Baptist, East Central, Southern Arkansas and Rogers State to round out the top ten.
The Lions will be back in action on October 4 as Southern will travel to the University of Arkansas to compete in the Chili Pepper Invite.
