Reds to sign Skip Schumaker

The Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that former Cardinals second baseman/outfielder Skip Schumaker is signing with the Reds

The deal is reportedly for two years.

Schumaker, who will be 34 next season, adds much-needed depth to the Reds’ roster. Last season he played second base and all three outfield spots for the Dodgers, in addition to two pitching appearances. Last year was his first year outside St. Louis and he played in 125 games for the Dodgers, hitting .263/.332/.332. He started 74 games for the Dodgers — 34 at second base, 17 in center field, 14 in left field, eight in right and one as the team’s designated hitter.
