The Missouri Southern men's and women's track and field teams have been picked to finish fifth and third, respectively as the MIAA announced its preseason indoor track and field polls today.
The Southern women, ranked fifth nationally, were picked to finish third in the MIAA Coaches Poll. The women were third last year in the 2019 Indoor Championships. Southern had 11 All-MIAA performances last year and return seven of those performances.
Samantha Petry - Pole Vault, Claire Luallen - Pentathlon, Jasmine Deckard - 60m, 200m, 4x400m relay,
Payton Roberts - shot put and Elizabeth Adeoye - 4x400m relay all return to the lineup for the Lions this year after All-MIAA performances from a season ago.
The Southern men were fifth at last year's Championships and return three of the four All-MIAA performances from a season ago. Gidieon Kimutai was the 5k champion and was also All-MIAA in the 3k, while Josh Webb was All-MIAA in the 5k. The Lions are ranked 9th nationally in the coaches poll.
