MSSU football, volleyball players receive academic honors

The Missouri Southern football and volleyball teams were recognized for academic prowess today as the MIAA announced its academic awards for the sports.

The league announced its Academic Honor Roll, the Scholar-Athlete list and the Academic Excellence Award. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll list, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 or above at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

To be named a Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must maintain the above criteria, while also earning a 3.5 cumulative GPA and be named to an All-MIAA team. The Academic Excellence Award is given to those that have maintained a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA. Freshmen and newcomers will be honored at the end of the school year.








Those named to the Academic Honor Roll for football were Levi Duley, Ty Harvey, Riley Hathorn, Richard Jordan Jr., Sean Kelly, Wes Klocke, Cameron Vaughn and Paul Wolff.

The volleyball team was represented on the list by Janelle Brehm, Alyssa Diaz, Sydney Dose, Olivia Lewis, Mikayla Monk, Morgan Nash, Alicia Pickett, CC Pollard, Cassie Walton and Lydia Wiegand.

Nash, Brehm and Pickett were all named Scholar-Athletes, while Pickett earned the Academic Excellence Award.
