The 20th-ranked Missouri Southern baseball team will play host to Emporia State this weekend in a three-game MIAA series on Warren Turner Field.
The Lions (17-7, 5-5 MIAA) will also have the first two radio broadcasts of the year as the official radio partner of the Lions, Fox Sports Joplin will air ten baseball games and four softball games this Spring on 101.3 FM and AM 1560. A complete schedule is listed below.
Emporia comes into action this weekend at 13-10 overall and 4-6 in the MIAA. The Hornets dropped a midweek game to Missouri Western, 7-6. ESU is hitting .298 as a team and the ESU pitchers are ranked 13th nationally and lead the MIAA in fewest walks allowed per nine innings.
The Lions rank third nationally in sacrifice flies, 12th in walks, 13th in strikeouts per nine innings and 14th in strikeout to walk ratio. Alex Phillips is fourth nationally in walks, while Johnny Balsamo ranks ninth in sacrifice flies.
Friday night's game begins at 6 pm with a Saturday first-pitch at 1 pm and noon on Sunday. Friday and Saturday's games will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports Joplin, while all three games will be streamed on the MIAA network.
