The Missouri Southern Athletic Department will continue to have exciting promotions throughout the final few home games of the men's and women's basketball season. Read below for all the exciting ways you can enjoy Southern basketball, as well as catch a few freebies along the way.
Saturday, January 9th
For the second consecutive year, Southern Basketball will be hosting Pack the Platt, presented by the Joplin Globe. The Globe has purchased 500 general admission tickets to the game and are distributing them for free to customers. Also, Missouri Southern green t-shirts will be given out to the first 500 fans in attendance as part of our "Green Out," courtesy of Commerce Bank. Come out and watch this doubleheader matchup against conference rival Central Missouri beginning at 1:00 pm for the women's game and 3:00 pm for the men's game.
Saturday, January 30th
Grab some pocket change and head to the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center because it's Dollar Day at MSSU Basketball. One dollar will get you a general admission ticket to the game, and select concession items including hot dogs and drinks will also be priced at a dollar each. It's also the annual Pink Night at Southern Basketball, where monetary donations will be collected for the HOPE 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation here in Joplin, MO. The women will tip-off at 1:00 pm and the men will start at 3:00 pm.
Thursday, February 11th
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Super Hero Night at MSSU Basketball! The event will feature special super hero themed contests, promotions, and concession items. Additionally, the first 50 kids 12 or younger, will receive a FREE green & gold reversible cape! Anyone wearing super hero apparel can receive $5 general admission tickets. No matter if you're a Marvel or DC Comic enthusiast, this is an event you're not going to want to miss! The women's game will get underway at 5:30 pm and the men will tip-off at 7:30 pm.
Saturday, February 13th
Do you have or know a baby that just won't stop crawling everywhere? Turn that infant energy into cool cash at the annual Diaper Dash at MSSU Basketball! Kids under the age of 2 that are still not able to walk can take part in the Diaper Dash for chances at cash prizes of $50, $75 and $100 for the top-three finishers. The competition will take place during halftime of the men's game. Registration can be completed online at mssulions.com or at one of the upcoming basketball games. The cut-off date for registration is January 30th. For questions, call 417-625-3075. It is also Most Improved Student Day, where students from local elementary schools that were nominated by teachers as their "most improved student" will be recognized during the doubleheader. The women's game starts at 1:00 pm and the men get under way at approximately 3:00 pm.
Saturday, February 27th
It's the doubleheader everyone has been looking forward to all season: MSSU vs Pitt State Basketball! The Gorillas travel to the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center for Missouri Southern's Senior Day, with the doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm. It is also Fan Appreciation Day, where Southern Athletics will be giving away t-shirts, hoodies and all sorts of apparel and items that have been left over from the past several seasons. Don't miss out on stocking up on your Missouri Southern inventory as well as seeing Southern battle its border state rival!
