The Missouri Southern men's basketball program will continue its new year road trip with a battle with Fort Hays State Monday night. Tip off from Gross Memorial Coliseum is slated for 7:30 pm.

The Series
Fort Hays holds a 28-18 advantage over the Lions. Prior to the 2007-08 season, all of the games came when both teams were in the CSIC. Hays had won four in a row, before the Lions defeated the Tigers in the first-round of the 2014 NCAA Central Regional. The Tigers have had two separate streaks of five wins in a row. Southern dropped seven straight games from 1982 to 1985. The largest margin of victory for the Lions came on two consecutive games on Feb. 18, 1977 and Feb. 3, 1978 when Southern defeated the Tigers by identical 15 point margins. The largest margin of victory for the Tigers came in the 1987-88 season when Hays defeated Southern twice by the margins of 26 and 44 points. At home, Southern is 13-7 against the Tigers. The Lions are 4-17 in Hays and are 1-4 in neutral site games.
Taevaunn Amongst The Nation's Best
Taevaunn Prince leads the country in free throws attempted and made, while ranking second in defensive rebounds per game. He ranks fourth in total rebounds and fifth in total points, while ranking ninth and tenth in rebounds and points per game. He also ranks 11th in double-doubles, while ranking 14th in total field goals, 32nd in total minutes, and 43rd in field goal percentage.
NCAA Individual Stat Leaders
Taevaunn Prince isn't the only Lion that is amongst the National Leaders. Austin Wright ranks 48th in minutes per game, 25th in total minutes and 50th in total three pointers made.
NCAA Team Stat Leaders
The Lions rank ninth in free throws made and 13th in free throws attempted. The team ranks 39th in three point shooting and 55th in free throw percentage.
MIAA Individual Leaders:
Prince leads the MIAA in defensive rebounds per game, double-doubles, free throws attempted and made rebounds per game, total field goals made and total rebounds. He ranks third in field goal percentage, second in points per game, and second in total minutes. Wright leads the league in total minutes, while ranking third in three point attempts, fourth in minutes per game, and total three pointers per game.
MIAA Team Stat Leaders
The Lions lead the MIAA in total three pointers made, as well as attempted and steals. Southern ranks second in steals per game, three point defense and total three pointers made per game, while ranking third in defensive rebounds and fourth in three point attempts, three pointers per game and three point field goal percentage.
Record Breakers
Senior shooting guard Austin Wright set two records for the Lions last year, including the single-season three point record (79) and the single game three-point record (9). He also owns the single-season three point percentage mark (.493) and is also the current career-leader in that category (.455).
Record Breakers II
Wright is climbing the charts in career three pointers made at MSSU. He moved into the top five last year and currently sits in third at 212 career treys, after passing Keith Allen. He needs 2 to pass Jason Adams for 2nd place and 13 to break Skyler Bowlin's record of 224.
Three Point Streak
The Lions failed to make a three-pointer at Arkansas Tech in their match-up in 2012-13. It was the first time in 403 games that Southern had failed to hit a three pointer, dating back to Jan. 20, 1999 against Missouri S&T. The Lions have had a three in 96-straight games since Arkansas Tech in 2012-13.
Taevaunn's On Fire
Taevaunn Prince is averaging 25.6 and 11.1 rebounds this season. He has led the Lions in rebounding every game but one, and in points in 11 of 13.
Mr. 200
Austin Wright had seven three pointers against Central Oklahoma to give him 201 in his career. He currently has 212 and is 13 away from breaking the all-time record at MSSU.
Blocks By The 100
Greg Renfroe picked up his 100th career block this past week against Northeastern State. He currently has 106 and is nine away from tying Keane Thomann for fourth all-time in MSSU history. Renfroe had 62 blocks as a junior, second all-time in a single-season at MSSU.
20-Point Man
Taevaunn Prince has scored 20 points or more in every game but one this season.
Rebound This
Taevaunn Prince has set his career-high in rebounds in two separate games this year, tying the mark of 17 in two of the four games.
Season-Ending Injury
Southern swing man LJ Ross will sit out the 2015-16 season after pre-season knee surgery revealed more damage than thought.
That Doesn't Happen Often
The Lions scored 100 points against Nebraska-Kearney and lost on Jan. 2, 113-100. That is just the eighth time in the program's history where the team has scored 100 points, but hasn't won. The last time was a 113-111 overtime loss at Nebraska-Omaha.
Huge Fan Support
Missouri Southern ranks 11th nationally in average attendance with 1,689 fans per game coming to the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. The Lions rank 5th in total attendance with 13,266 fans this season. Southern ranks fourth in the MIAA in average attendance.
Go Get Em' Charlie Brown
Sophomore Charlie Brown had a career-high 27 points in a win over St. Cloud State to start the season.
Lions In The D2 Basketball Writers Regional Poll
The Missouri Southern men's basketball program is ranked 4th in the Division II Media Week Six Central Region Poll. Central Missouri is eighth, while Northwest Missouri is ninth.
