MSSU picked to repeat as women's cross country champs

The Missouri Southern women's cross country program has been picked to repeat as MIAA Champs as the conference office released the 2015 Preseason Coaches Poll today. 
The Lions, who won all but one regular season Division II meet they entered in 2014 and went on to finish third at the Regional meet, return seven runners from last year's Championship team incluing All-Region performer Emily Harris. Head coach Patty Vavra also brings in veteran runner Amber White from the track and field team, as well as a host of talented newcomers. 
The Lions were picked, along with Southwest Baptist, to win the league, while Pittsburg State, Fort Hays State and Northwest Missouri round out the top five. Nebraska-Kearney, Central Oklahoma, Central Missouri, Lincoln, Emporia State and Lindenwood round out the poll. 
Southern opens up the season on September 5 at the Southwest Baptist Invitational. The Lions play host to the Southern Stampede on September 19. Missouri Southern will host the 2015 NCAA Central Regional Championships on November 7, as well as the NCAA Division II National Championship on November 21.
