MSSU volleyball to play MIAA newcomer Newman at Wichita

The Missouri Southern volleyball team will be back in action tomorrow night as the Lions will travel to Wichita to take on Newman in MIAA play.

The matchup with the Jets marks the first time the two teams have played each other while members of the MIAA as this is Newman's first year in league play.

Southern (6-4, 0-1 MIAA) is coming off a 3-1 loss on the road at Pittsburg State. In the matchup, Morgan Nash recorded her third double-double of the season when she picked up 10 kills, 19 assists and 15 digs. Nash is tied for the Division II lead in that category.








Coming into the week, the Lions led Division II in total team digs and total team attacks, while ranking third in total kills, fourth in total assists and 11th in total blocks. Individually, Janelle Brehm leads Division II in total attacks, while ranking 11th in total kills and 14th in attacks per set.

Newman (0-9) is coming off an 0-4 tournament at Fort Hays where the Jets lost to Northwestern Oklahoma, Chadron State, Southern Arkansas and Western Colorado. Trinity Conley leads the Jets as she averages 3.56 kills per set, while pulling in 2.24 digs per set.

Southern will be back in action next week as the Lions will play host to College of the Ozarks on Tuesday night, before hosting Central Missouri and Northwest Missouri on Friday and Saturday.
