MSSU volleyball falls in four sets to Pittsburg State

Pittsburg, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team picked up another triple-double from Morgan Nash, but the Lions fell 3-1 tonight on the road at Pittsburg State. Individual set scores were 23-25, 25-23, 20-25 and 17-25.

Southern (6-4, 0-1 MIAA) got the third triple-double of the season from Nash as she had 10 kills, 19 assists and 15 digs. Alicia Pickett had eight kills, hit .571 and added three blocks, while Janelle Brehm had 13 kills and 17 digs. Makenzie Fa'amusili-Cacoulidis had 16 assists, while Brooklynn McCain added 12 digs.








Pitt (6-3, 1-0 MIAA) had three in double-figure kills, led by Meg Auten with 17.

Sets one and two saw 26 tied scores and nine lead changes throughout. With the set tied at 20, the Gorillas reeled off four of five points to go up 24-21 and won the set 25-23.

Set two saw the Lions go up 24-18 late and hold off a late surge from PSU to win 25-23. Pitt went up 22-15 in set three and held on to win 25-20, while set four saw the Gorillas lead from start to finish.

The Lions will be back in action this Friday at Newman. First serve is slated for 6 pm.
