MSSU golf in sixth place after first day of Hardscrabble Invitational

Fort Smith, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern men's golf team is in 6th after day one at the at the 2018 Hardscrabble Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith at Hardscrabble Country Club.

The Lions shot a first-round 298 and followed that up with a 301 to finish with a 599 on day one, 39 strokes off the lead. Texas A&M Commerce is in first with a 560, while Arkansas-Fort Smith is in second, seven strokes back. Midwestern State is in third, followed by Rogers State, Cameron, Southern, Lubbock Christian, Northwestern Oklahoma and Central Baptist to wrap the team scores up.

Taylor Haltom is tied for 18th individually after shooting a two-round 148. Tristan Haltom and Logan Greer are tied for 24th with a two-round 150, while Connor Neil is tied for 27th at 151 and Adam Vining is in 46th with a 159.

The Lions will play a final 18 holes tomorrow to conclude the tournament.
