St. Charles, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team ran into a hot-hitting Lindenwood squad and fell three sets to none on the road at Lindenwood tonight. Individual set scores were 21-25, 21-25 and 16-25.
The Lions (9-10, 2-4 MIAA) were led offensively by Mikayla Monk with ten kills and a .533 attack average. Bailey Rexford had seven kills, while Janelle Brehm had a team-high ten digs. Morgan Nash dished out 26 assists and added eight digs.
Lindenwood (11-8, 3-3 MIAA) was led by Emily Wylie and Alex Dahlstrom with nine kills each.
In set one, Lindenwood rushed out to a 4-1 lead and led from then on out.
In set two, the teams fought through 15 tied scores and five lead changes. Southern led 15-13 midway through and led again 19-17 late. Lindenwood, however, fought back and tied the set at 20 and went ahead 21-20 en route to the set win.
Set three saw four ties and one lead change as Lindenwood went ahead 5-4 early and led from then on out.
The Lions will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as Southern travels to 20th ranked Central Missouri. First-serve is set for 4 pm.
