(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)
Missouri Southern junior Chelsey Henry was selected to play in the USA Sports D2 Tour in Brazil.
Henry is the sixth Lion to represent Missouri Southern since 2015 in the USA Sports Tour & Events D2 Brazil Tour. Henry is joined by fellow MIAA players Paige Imhoff and Brenlee McPherson from Pittsburg State, Tanya Meyer of Northwest Missouri and Paige Redmond of Central Missouri.
"We played our first game last night (August 1st) in Jundiai and we won 100-22," said Henry. "We will travel to São Paulo today to play and then we're on the road to Rio starting tomorrow."
When asked about the challenges playing in Brazil Henry added, "It's already been an amazing trip and it's only Wednesday! I've gotten close with the women's team and we've had a blast. At first, it was difficult in the first game to play with people you've never competed with (except for the few MIAA players). After the first quarter though, we all loosened up and just played. It was a lot of fun. I've already learned that Brazilian players are fast and physical."
The USA D2 Women's Team will play Osasco today followed by Mangueira on Saturday, August 5th and finish against Fluminense on Sunday, August 6th.
