Crowder Fieldhouse project receives $150,000 donation

(From Crowder College)

The Crowder College Foundation received $150,000 donation from the Sunderland Foundation for the Freeman Roughrider Fieldhouse project. This generous donation boosts the total raised to $1,025,000. The goal for the project is $1.4M.

“With $375,000 left to go we can feel the project excitement. This generous donation from the Sunderland Foundation may be just the momentum needed to bring others on board to finish off this project,” stated Cindy Branscum, Director of Development. “Checks like this don’t arrive every day, so it was a wonderful surprise last Friday when we opened the mail.”

According to Kent Sunderland, President, The Sunderland Foundation primarily provides grants in the geographic areas that have a client base to the Ash Grove Cement Company. “Funding is granted to special projects related to our business, basically bricks and mortar,” stated Sunderland during a phone conversation with Cindy Branscum. “We hope other businesses that benefit from Crowder College will step up and make a donation to complete funding for the fieldhouse project.”

The Roughrider Fieldhouse project will be solely funded by private donations. Crowder is the only Region 16 program that does not have an indoor facility. Currently, all four teams share the gymnasium for indoor use during inclement weather. The new facility will provide locker rooms for men’s soccer and baseball as well as a concession area and restrooms, offices and an indoor practice facility. It will be located northeast of the gymnasium between the parking lot and baseball field. For more information contact the Crowder College Foundation at 417-455-5646.
