(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

For the third-straight week, Missouri Southern senior thrower Bryan Burns has earned MIAA honors as he was named the MIAA Co-Field Athlete of the Week today by the league office.

Burns, a senior from Carthage, Mo., continued his dominance in the throws this weekend at the MSSU Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational. He broke his own record in the shot put, while posting another NCAA AQ in the discus.

Burns hit a mark of 59-02.75 to finish fourth in the shot as the second-highest scoring collegian. The mark was two feet further than the record he set last weekend. Burns then followed that up with a third-place performance in the hammer throw, hitting a provisional mark of 184-05. He finished off his meet with a win in the discus, hitting an NCAA AQ of 183-09.

Burns and the Lions will be in action this weekend at the 2018 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
