Wichita, Kan. -- A day after signing a professional contract to play with the Wichita Wingnuts, Corbin Osburn earned his first pro win in a victory over the Texas AirHogs this past Sunday.
Osburn, an All-MIAA pitcher this year for the Lions this year was the Lions' Friday night starter all year long, going 4-4 with a 3.99 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 85.2 innings. A native of Broken Arrow, Okla., Osburn transferred to Southern after a year at Division I Arkansas-Little Rock.
In his pro debut on Sunday, Osburn allowed one run on three hits, while striking out three in five innings.
The Wingnuts play in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, a group of 12 teams that range from Chicago to Sioux Falls to Winnipeg and Kansas City.
