Nine MSSU softball players earn academic honors

Nine Missouri Southern Softball Lions earned MIAA Academic Honors for the 2015 season release by the conference office Monday.

Five Lions were members of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll as redshirt freshman Dakoda Owings, sophomoreShelby Mitchell, and juniors Dru Coleman, Sarah Williams, and Michala Wood all earned GPAs of 3.0 or higher for the year.

Four Lions were named MIAA Scholar-Athletes, in order to obtain this distinction the player must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and was named to the All-MIAA team. Senior Kathryn Goins-Osburn earned had a 3.84 GPA in Math, senior Brooke Swadley finished with a 3.58 GPA in Kinesiology, while junior Alana Hester finished her season with a 3.74 GPA in Criminal Justice, and redshirt freshman Myranda Stewart had a 3.8 GPA in Kinesiology. All four Lions earned honorable mention All-MIAA honors for this past season.
