The Missouri Southern men's and women's basketball teams released their respective 2014-15 schedules today.
Both teams will host tournaments in the month of November. The women open the season with six-straight games at home, as well as a home exhibition game. The men on the other hand, will open the season on the road at the Sanford Pentagon Tip-Off in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The men will face Northern State and Sioux Falls on November 15-16 in a tournament that features teams from both the NSIC and the MIAA facing off in the Sanford Pentagon.
The women will play host to Livin' the Dream in an exhibition on November 7 inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. They will then play host to their own tournament on November 15-16, taking on Oklahoma Panhandle on the 15th and Rockhurst on the 16th. The game with Rockhurst will feature a tribute to Maryann Mitts, the all-time winningest coach at Southern. That tournament will also feature Evangel University as the Lions' playing partner.
The Lions' men will host the Freeman Sports Medicine/Chris Tucker Memorial Classic on November 21-22. Southern will face off against St. Mary University of Kansas on Friday, while taking on Mid-American Christian on Saturday. Lincoln will be the Lions' playing partner in the tournament taking on the same two opponents.
The women will host Avila, Quincy, Central Christian and Northwestern Oklahoma before the start of conference play. The men will take part in the St. Mary's (Texas) Classic on November 28-29 in San Antonio where they'll face off with Midwestern State on Friday and the host St. Mary's on Saturday.
Conference play starts on December 4 at Nebraska-Kearney and the Lions' first home MIAA double-header will be on December 20 against Emporia State before the Christmas break. The teams will face off with Pittsburg State in Pittsburg on February 21 for the only meeting between the two schools this season, while the 2015 MIAA Tournament will take place from March 5-9 inside Municipal Auditorium.
