The Missouri Southern Athletic Department announced today a new partnership with American Media Investments (AMI) Radio to be the official home of all Missouri Southern football and basketball games beginning this fall.
All football, as well as men's and women's basketball games, will now be broadcast on FM 99.7 – KBTN Real American Country, as well as AM 1420 in Joplin. It also means that all games can now be heard on an FM signal, where in the past, women's basketball games had been broadcast on the AM dial.
"We are excited to enter into this partnership with AMI and KBTN," said Missouri Southern Athletics Director Jared Bruggeman. "The ability to broadcast all of our games on an FM signal, as well as getting to work with the outstanding group of people they have on staff, was certainly vital in choosing the home of our radio broadcasts. We look forward to the great opportunity that our department has in bringing Southern athletics to the airwaves in Southwest Missouri."
Also as part of the agreement, there will be a new 15-minute insider show featuring player interviews before the MSSU football broadcasts each week. Following that will also be a 30-minute pre-game show hosted by the voice of the Lions, Mike McClure.
AMI will also sponsor a pre-game tailgate each week for all home football games that will feature free food and drink for fans.
The daytime coverage signal for KBTN reaches as far west as Parsons, Kan. and as far east as Republic, Mo. The signal will go south to Springdale, Ark. and as just north of Lamar, Mo.
"All of us at AMI radio are very excited to join in a partnership with Missouri Southern, to broadcast the 2014-2015 Missouri Southern football and basketball games on KBTN, 99.7," said George DeMarco, Vice President & General Manager for AMI Radio Group. "We have had the pleasure of doing many things in the past with Missouri Southern, and it has always been a very good experience. We know that broadcasting these games will be a real benefit to all of the four states, Missouri Southern and AMI radio."
