Louisville Slugger® and MLB Network announced this evening that Adam Wainwright has received the National League's 2017 Silver Slugger Award. Wainwright becomes the first Cardinals pitcher since Jason Marquis (2005) to win the award and the third pitcher (Bob Forsch in 1980 and 1987) overall.
Wainwright, 36, co-led Major League pitchers in RBI (11, Carlos Martinez) and runs scored (7, Zach Davies). He also ranked 1st in batting average (.262) and slugging (.452). He leads active Major League pitchers in career hits (127), RBI (68), doubles (34), and extra base hits (46).
