Cash-strapped Blasters sell top reliever to Winnipeg

The cash-strapped Joplin Blasters continued what appears to be a selloff of their top players today, selling right-handed reliever Victor Capellan to the Winnipeg Goldeyes:

Capellan is 2-1 with seven saves and a 2.37 ERA this season. He’s also struck out 44 batters in 38 innings while allowing just 22 hits.

The 29-year-old finished second in the American Association with 53 appearances last year.

Capellan was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks as an international free agent in 2007. The Dominican Republic product reached the Triple-A level with the Reno Aces in 2012.
