Missouri Southern women's track and field thrower Desirea Buerge has been named the MIAA Women's Co-Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Buerge had a pair of Automatic Qualifying marks this past weekend at Angelo State. She tossed her first Automatic Qualifying mark and broke an 11-year old school record by going 15.86m (52-00.50) in the shot put to win the event.
Buerge followed that up with another auto qualifier, a school record and win in the discus with a mark of 55.54m (182-03). Her shot put mark is number two in Division II this year and her discus mark is number two, as well.
The Lions will be in action this weekend as Southern travels to Pittsburg State.
