MSSU golf finishes second at Southern Bancorp Invitational

Mountain Home, Ark. - The Missouri Southern Men's Golf team finished in second place at the Southern Bancorp Invitational hosted by Henderson State at the Big Creek Golf Club.

Junior Connor Neil finished in third place in the individual medalist race with an even par 216 (70-75-71), two strokes behind Drew Greenwood of Henderson State and Patrick McCarthy of Missouri Western. Senior Taylor Lansford finished in a tie for eighth with a three round total of 222 (76-72-74) while freshman Chase Rogers took a share of 15th with a 224 (71-78-75). Senior Cameron Hamilton dropped into a share of 21st after a final round of 79 for a 228 total, while fellow senior Phillip Roller finished with a three round total of 234. Freshman Caleb Fischer finished his first tournament for the Lions with a 251.

Henderson State won the team title with a three round total of 883 (288-302-293) followed by Southern four strokes back at 887 (288-303-296). Southern Nazarene finished in third place with an 891 (290-308-293) followed by Missouri Western in fourth with an 897 (299-299-299) and rounding out the top five was Arkansas-Monticello at 899 (302-305-292). Arkansas-Ft. Smith (305-304-300) and Henderson State "B" team (301-308-300) tied for sixth at 909 and Southern Arkansas rounded out the eight team field with a 911 (300-314-297).

The Lions will take next week off before gearing up for the Tiger Classic at Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays, Kansas. The Classic hosted by Fort Hays State is the final MIAA points event prior to the MIAA Championships April 24-26 at Sycamore Ridge Golf Course in Spring Hill, Kansas.
