(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

The Missouri Southern baseball team will open up MIAA play this weekend as the Lions will travel to Edmond, Okla. to take on No. 34 Central Oklahoma in a three game set on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Gummere has a team-high 13 walks and an on-base percentage of .531, while going 4-4 on the basepaths. Alex Phillips leads the team with 12 RBIs and is tied with Denver Coffee for the team lead with four doubles.

UCO is 6-2 on the season and has won the last five in a row. The Bronchos are averaging 6.25 runs per game and have a .275 batting average. The Bronchos are ranked 34th in the Baseball Coaches Preseason National Poll.

Missouri Southern's Bausinger named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

Missouri Southern junior pitcher Will Bausinger has been named the MIAA and the National Pitcher of the Week as the MIAA and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced today.

This is the 25th perfect game in the history of Division II and the first in the history of the MIAA.

Bausinger, a St. Louis (Marquette HS) native, threw the first perfect game in Missouri Southern history last week when the righty helped the Lions to a 9-0 win over Washburn at the MIAA/GLVC Challenge.

It was the ninth no-hitter in MSSU history. Bausinger struck out 17 batters, including the last eight in a row, and of the ten hitters that didn't strikeout, only two had balls leave the infield.

Bausinger and the Lions will be back in action this weekend as Southern travels to Central Oklahoma to open up MIAA play.
