(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

The Missouri Southern men's basketball team led 60-58 with just under five minutes to go, but a 7-2 run for Rockhurst lifted the Hawks back to the lead and the Lions would not recover, falling 80-73 at Mason Halpin Fieldhouse in Kansas City tonight.

The Lions (3-2) were led in scoring by Taevaunn Prince as the senior from Toronto scored 20 points on 6-13 from the field and 7-9 from the free throw line. Prince added eight rebounds, as well. Rockhurst (3-1) was led in scoring by Malachi Nix with 23 points on 7-14 from the field and 9-11 from the charity stripe. He was one of four Hawks in double-figures.

A layup from Brown with 16:30 to go in the first half put Southern up 6-2 early on, but a three-point play from Nix tied the game at ten with 14:31 left. The Lions led for the next four minutes, but a three pointer from Alex Hagan gave Rockhurst a 17-15 lead they would hold as the Hawks took a 29-28 lead into the locker room at the break.

A pair of free throws from Brown gave the Lions a 54-52 lead with 8:26 left, and a layup from Blaine Miller with 4:55 to go gave the Lions a 60-58 advantage.

However, an 11-5 run for the hawks opened up a six-point lead (71-65) with 1:50 to go and the Lions would not complete the comeback.
